Welcome to My Practice

With over 25 years of experience as a licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Board-Certified, Registered Art Therapist, I specialize in working with children, teens, adults, and individuals seeking support and guidance to better understand themselves and the challenges they are experiencing in their lives.

In addition to talk therapy, I invite my clients to explore through art. Creating art is healing, and having a witness to your process can promote self-awareness and help you explore what you may not be able to access through verbal communication alone.

I offer a warm, open, safe space for clients to explore and learn about themselves and examine thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that may no longer be serving them in a positive way.

I use a compassionate, client-centered approach with a Humanistic, Attachment Theory focus. I utilize a variety of interventions depending on the needs of the client. These include:

  • Art Therapy
  • Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy
  • Mindfulness Skills
  • Safe and Sound Protocol
  • Rest and Restore Protocol

I value a client-therapist relationship with open communication and collaboration towards achieving your goals. I will be there to encourage and empower you towards the changes you want to see and gently challenge you to grow and explore your whole self.

It can be hard to take the first step to seek support. You have taken that first step. How wonderful! I look forward to working with you.

What Can Art Heal?

Art Therapist, Bruce Moon once said that "by making art and using our imaginations, we may find relief from fears, anxiety, and depression and discover new meaning in our lives." At some point, we have probably all experienced a moment where we were challenged to express ourselves through words. In Art Therapy, people are encouraged to express what they cannot say with words through drawings, paintings, and other art forms. Sometimes drawing serves as a way to communicate painful memories of trauma and abuse that people can not consciously accept the reality of to communicate verbally.  Art expression is not a linear process; it can express complex things simultaneously. In recent studies, children who express crises or emotionally laden events through drawing can verbally recollect and relate more details about the experience than through talking alone.

I believe that increasing a person's capacity for creative thinking and behavior through art making with various media and using your imagination helps to reduce emotional distress and conflict and enhances a better understanding of yourself and others.  I have seen amazing positive shifts in my client's emotional health and strongly believe that these creative behaviors and using your imagination contribute to positive mental health and can help people of all ages to become more adaptive, resilient, and productive when faced with life's challenges.

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

Think, feel, and connect better through nervous system regulation.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a therapist-led listening program that uses specially filtered music to support nervous system balance. By sending cues of safety to the body, the SSP helps shift out of stress responses and into a calmer, more regulated state.

Designed for children, adolescents, and adults, the SSP creates a foundation for emotional stability, improved focus, and deeper social connection. Listening can take place in person or from home, with guidance from a certified provider.

Why Nervous System Regulation is Essential for Our Well-Being

The autonomic nervous system regulates essential bodily functions. When we feel in danger, this system kicks in to protect us by engaging what are commonly known as the "fight/flight" or "freeze" responses. For some, these "flight/flight" or "freeze" responses may become activated or remain in a chronic state of dysregulation due to stress, trauma or neurodivergence. You may be able to identify when your autonomic nervous system is in a defensive state if you notice difficulties with:

  • Breathing
  • Digestion
  • Sleep
  • Concentration
  • Mental clarity
  • Social connection

Benefits of Nervous System Regulation

Improved Response to Stress

Better respond to difficult situations and move past them instead of reacting and getting "stuck" in them.

Ability to Access Higher Learning and Cognition

Become attuned to and more in control of emotions, so you can move through temporary setbacks with more flexibility and ease.

Strengthened Self-Connection

By balancing natural rhythms that occur within the body (ie, breathing, heart rate, blood pressure & digestion), RRP can help shift you into a state of calmness and ease, leading to deeper rest, recovery and connection to self.

  • Trauma history
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Gastrointestinal and gut issues
  • Sleep
  • Chronic pain and fatigue
  • Chronic health conditions
  • Functional disorders

About Rest and Restore Protocol

Rest and Restore ProtocolTM (RRP) is an innovative, clinical-grade listening therapy designed to help calm and restore mental and physical functioning. RRP is informed by decades of research studying physiological rhythms in the body, including heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and in the gut, alongside deep knowledge of advanced sound technology to support deep relaxation and optimal recovery for clients. Beyond listening, you do not have to "do" anything to experience the benefits of RRP.

How It Works

The music of RRP is enhanced by Sonocea®, an innovative, patent-pending technology that uses sound acoustics through music to sync with the natural biological rhythms of the body.

Stimulating these natural rhythms send cues of safety to the nervous system, promoting healing functions that aid in mental and physical
restoration.

A new listening therapy, developed to support healing, restoration, and balance.

“[After Rest and Restore Protocol], I felt an immediate reduction in tension.”

“The transformation in my son has been profound. He is no longer trapped in fight-or-flight mode in response to every stressor. Instead of reacting impulsively, he now takes the time to pause and think before responding.”

“Following Rest and Restore Protocol, my client noticed a significant shift that included less headaches, improved sleep, and changes in digestion.”

Backed by Research

While research and development are ongoing, RRP is informed by decades of research studying physiological rhythms in the body. Preliminary pilot data has found significant improvements in the following areas after engagement in RRP:

88%

of clients with trauma-related symptoms reported improvement following RRP

93%

of clients with anxiety symptoms reported improvement following RRP

76%

of clients with insomnia related symptoms reported improvement following RRP

82%

of clients with depression symptoms reported improvement following RRP

Trusting Inner Wisdom and Self-Discovery

I hope to encourage and guide my clients to gain the awareness and knowledge that they already possess all that they need within themselves. In our society, we are often told to look for things outside ourselves for healing and knowledge. These things may be helpful and contribute to our well-being, but if we really listen to ourselves and the knowing that comes from within us, and we trust what we know is authentic to us and not influenced by what we think we should do or be, I believe we will be guided to the innate well-being that we all possess as individuals.
